Financial Options

At Windsor, we understand the challenges presented by the current economic environment, particularly for those who are otherwise ready for skilled nursing care or assisted living, but are uncertain how best to afford it.

Our admissions staff would be happy to meet with you and help you explore what options are available to provide for your stay at Windsor.

Private Pay

Windsor Medical Center is one of the very few remaining private pay facilities in the State of Ohio. We currently DO NOT participate in the Medicare/Medicaid programs through the Federal & State Governments. However, Windsor does work with our residents and families to support other forms of reimbursement where applicable.

Due to our non-participation in Medicaid, our private pay clients do not subsidize that program, and that means that the resident dollar goes to support ONLY their care. The result is that we are able to staff at higher levels, provide more services, and cater to our population’s needs and desires, while maintaining rates equal to, or lower than much of our competition. So if you are paying for your care privately, Windsor is an option that you will want to explore. Why settle for less?

Long-Term Care Insurance

Windsor also accepts and works with long-term care insurance policy reimbursement, providing assistance with the information and filing requirements to see that those individuals eligible for coverage receive it. Insurance policies of this type often provide most or even all of the required monies for nursing care and assisted living accommodations.

Veterans Aid and Attendance Pension

The Department of Veterans Affairs provides the Aid and Attendance Pension to eligible wartime veterans and their surviving spouses. This benefit can offset a significant portion of the long term care expenses at Windsor. Depending on your situation, the benefit ranges from $1,094 to 2,019 per month and is tax free. Our admissions staff can introduce you to a provider that will discuss the VA's eligibility requirements with you….and the service is FREE.

Windsor has just opened a “state of the art”, residential style, skilled nursing facility. We are in the process of obtaining Medicare certification and will then be accepting Medicare patients in a 20 bed dedicated unit. The unit will support our existing clientele as well as short-term rehabilitation & convalescent residents from the local community. Please call for details as we cannot currently provide an exact date for Medicare acceptance.

Tax-Exempt Gifting

Family members wishing to contribute toward the cost of a loved one’s care can take advantage of the IRS gift tax exemption. Individuals can offer annual gifts of up to $13,000 per person without paying the federal gift tax. To ensure that this decision is right for you and your family, please speak with a tax advisor before taking advantage of this option.
